Free Link Extractor

Free, no sign-up

It shows every link the page's HTML contains, one row per address. Each row has the full address the link points to, resolved the way a browser resolves it (relative paths and a base tag included), the anchor text people click, and the number of times the page links there.

  • Internal or external: a link is internal when it points to the same host as the page, with or without www. A link to a subdomain, such as blog.example.com from example.com, counts as external.
  • rel values: nofollow, sponsored, ugc and any others the link carries, read whether they are separated by spaces or commas.
  • Where it sits: in the main content, the navigation (a nav element or the site header), the footer, or elsewhere, such as a sidebar.
  • Repeats grouped: links to the same address are one row, with every anchor text and #fragment they use, and rel values counted per anchor, so an address linked once with nofollow and once without shows both.
  • Totals for the page: addresses linked, internal, external, and how many anchors carry nofollow, sponsored or ugc.

The tool reads the HTML the server sends and does not run JavaScript. If a page's menu or links are added by a script after it loads, they will be missing here, and a search engine that reads only the HTML will not see them either.

How do I extract all URLs from a web page?

Enter the page's address and run the check. The tool fetches the page once, reads every a element with an href, and lists the addresses. Use the filter box to find links by address or anchor text, narrow the table to internal or external links, to one part of the page or to one rel value, and sort by position, by how often a link repeats, or alphabetically.

Download links.csv to take the list into a spreadsheet. The file holds the rows that match your filters, with the address, anchor text, type, rel values, where the link sits and the count. Any cell that a spreadsheet could run as a formula is written as plain text, so a hostile link on someone else's page cannot run code when you open the file.

One check reads up to 10,000 links. A page with more says so, and the table covers the first ones on the page. Links with a mailto: or tel: address are counted but not listed, since they do not point at web pages.

What do nofollow, sponsored and ugc mean on a link?

They tell Google how a link relates to your site. Google's guidance asks you to mark paid links and advertisements with sponsored, links in comments and forum posts with ugc, and to use nofollow when neither fits and you do not want your site associated with the page or that page crawled from yours. A link can carry more than one value.

Google says links with these values will generally not be followed, and that the page they point to may still be crawled if it is found another way, such as in a sitemap or a link from another site. For links within your own site, Google recommends a robots.txt rule rather than nofollow to keep a page from being crawled.

The rel filter in the table finds these quickly: choose sponsored to review every paid placement on a page, or choose the option for addresses linked at least once without any of the three to see what the page links to without a qualifier.

Anchor text tells people and search engines what the linked page is about. Google describes good anchor text as descriptive, reasonably concise and relevant to both pages. A row marked as having no text is a link people and crawlers get no description for; for a linked image, Google reads the image's alt text as the anchor text, and so does this tool.

Google says it can crawl a link only when it is an a element with an href. Links written as javascript: addresses run a script instead of naming a page, and Google lists them as not recommended, so this tool leaves them out of the table and tells you how many it found. If your menu uses them, give each item a real address.

How does it tell main content from navigation?

It uses the page's own HTML landmarks, checked in this order. A link inside a nav element, an element with the navigation or banner role, or the site header counts as navigation, even inside main. Next, a link in the site footer or the contentinfo role counts as footer. A link in a sidebar (an aside element or the complementary role) is listed as elsewhere, even inside main. Then a link inside main, article or the main role counts as main content, and anything left is elsewhere. A header or footer inside an article belongs to that article, not to the site.

A page built without these elements has every link listed as elsewhere, which is itself worth knowing: landmarks help screen readers, and they make it clear which links are part of the content. When the same address appears in several places, the row lists each place, so a page linked from the menu and from the body shows both.

Questions about extracting links

Is this link extractor free?

Yes. It needs no account, and you can run several checks a day for free. Each check fetches one page and lists its links.

Does the link extractor crawl my whole site?

No. It reads only the page you enter and does not open the links it finds, so it does not tell you whether they work. To check every link on your site, use a site audit that crawls each page.

Can I download the links as CSV?

Yes. Download links.csv for the rows that match your filters, with the address, anchor text, internal or external, rel values, where on the page each link sits and how many times it appears. Cells a spreadsheet could run as formulas are written as plain text.

Why are some links missing?

The tool reads the HTML the server sends and does not run JavaScript, so links a script adds later are not there. Links written as javascript: addresses are left out and counted, mailto: and tel: links are counted but not listed, and a page with more than 10,000 links is read up to that many.

How are internal and external links decided?

A link is internal when it points to the same host as the page, treating www and the bare domain as one. A subdomain such as shop.example.com counts as external from example.com.

What does it mean when a link has nofollow?

nofollow asks Google not to associate your site with the linked page or crawl it from your site. Google asks for sponsored on paid links and ugc on links in comments and forums, and says links with these values will generally not be followed.

Check the links on every page, not just one

This tool lists the links on one page. Azuqe's site audit crawls your whole site, follows every internal link, and flags broken links, redirect chains and pages that nothing links to, with the fixes listed in order of impact.
