Editorial Approval Pipeline
Manage content from first draft to published article, with AI-powered brief generation, team review workflows, inline comments, and approval state management.
From Brief to Published
The Editorial Pipeline manages the full lifecycle of a piece of content, from initial keyword brief to final published article. For teams producing content at scale, this structure prevents quality issues, missed approvals, and inconsistent SEO practices from slipping through.
The workflow is designed around content states that are clear to every team member:
- 1Brief Creation → 2. Drafting → 3. Review → 4. Approved → 5. Scheduled → 6. Published
Each state has defined responsibilities: writers work in Drafting, editors in Review, managers in Approved, and the platform handles Scheduled and Published automatically.
AI-Powered Content Briefs
Before writing begins, the editorial suite generates a structured content brief based on your target keyword and competitive landscape:
- Recommended heading structure: A suggested H1 → H2 → H3 outline based on the topics covered by top-ranking pages for your keyword.
- Target word count: Estimated based on the average length of content ranking in positions 1–10 for the target query.
- Semantic keyword clusters: Related terms and entities the article should mention to improve topical coverage and semantic relevance.
- Questions to answer: Common questions (from People Also Ask and related searches) your article should address.
Writers receive a structured brief that gives clear direction, reducing the number of revision rounds and ensuring SEO intent is built in from the start, not patched on afterward.
Review & Approval States
The editorial pipeline uses explicit state transitions:
- Draft: The writer is actively working. The SEO checklist runs in real time, showing a live score for keyword density, meta description completeness, heading structure, and readability. The draft auto-saves continuously.
- Under Review: The writer marks the draft ready. Editors are notified and can review the full article, SEO scores, and all checklist items. They can approve it, request changes (with comments), or send it back to Draft.
- Approved: An editor or manager has signed off. The article is cleared for scheduling. At this point, it can be assigned a publish date on the Campaign Calendar. Approved articles cannot be edited without reverting to Draft and re-triggering the review cycle.
- Scheduled / Published: Handled automatically by the platform. No manual action required.
Inline Collaboration
The editorial suite supports team collaboration directly on the draft:
- Thread-based comments: Highlight any section of the article and leave a comment. Other team members can reply, creating conversation threads pinned to specific content sections.
- Revision history: Every save is logged with a timestamp and the identity of the team member who made the change. You can view and restore any previous version.
- SEO checklist audit log: Every time the SEO score changes (because a meta description was added or a heading was restructured), the change is recorded, giving editors a clear view of the optimization progress over time.
